A stone moulding, also known as a stone-effect moulding or Jesmonite, is a compound of finely ground real stone backed by an acrylic resin that perfectly replicates solid stone in any colour, texture or effect. Basically, it feels like stone and looks like stone, and is durable enough to use inside or out. But because it is hollow and lightweight, it is far easier to handle and treat – and has much lower material and labour costs.

The benefits of stone mouldings
Weather-resistant, long-lasting and sustainable, Jesmonite is light and easy to cast but becomes solid and robust when set, allowing it to support itself as well as giving resistance to water, fire and discolouration. It means you can use it anywhere, from arches and columns to cornices, panelling or ceilings. And being water-based and solvent-free, it’s also good for the environment, producing less harmful dust than real stone.

Using Jesmonite allows you to add different pigments and aggregates during the setting process to replicate any stone – from terracotta and golden sandstone through to Bath and Portland stone. You choose any colour, then we can guide you through acid etching options to create exactly the texture you want, whether smooth as a countertop or rough as an old brick.
