Our Contribution: Fibrous Plasterwork and Restoration

We were honoured to contribute to this iconic project through bespoke fibrous plaster mouldings, showcasing the versatility and timeless appeal of plaster. Our work included:

  • Large Fibrous Plaster Niches: Exceeding human height, these niches serve as both architectural statements and functional features that frame key areas of the restaurant.
  • Bespoke Cornices and Friezes: Hand-spaced triglyphs were carefully designed and installed to reflect the precision and elegance synonymous with the Art Deco era.
  • Art Deco Column Capitals: Embellished with intricate plaster details, these capitals complement the restaurant’s luxurious aesthetic while adding a touch of classic refinement.
  • Bar Area Restoration: Revisiting this familiar space, we restored the bar’s original plasterwork, including ceiling mouldings and pencil lights, seamlessly aligning historical features with the restaurant’s modern design.

Features and Design Philosophy

Bryan O’Sullivan Studio’s restaurant design embraces Art Deco inspiration while offering modern luxury and functionality:

Geometric patterns in the bespoke carpet and mosaic tile flooring echo the Art Deco era, while the timber flooring nods to the hotel’s signature chequered floors. The furniture subtly incorporates Art Deco motifs, with fabrics chosen to enhance the theme. Central banquettes provide intimate dining options, while perimeter seating offers sweeping views of the design. The Private Dining Room delivers exclusivity while retaining the brasserie’s charm. Pendant lights, inspired by Joseph Hoffman and embellished with tassels, reflect the Art Deco and Austrian brasserie styles, tying the design to Claridge’s legacy.

This project highlights the seamless integration of fibrous plaster mouldings, ornamental cornices, and contemporary design. It exemplifies how thoughtful craftsmanship can honour heritage while embracing modernity.

If you’re seeking expertise in decorative plaster mouldings, heritage restoration, or bespoke cornices, our work at Claridge’s Restaurant demonstrates our commitment to excellence and detail.
