Jesmonite is a two part mix consisting of a mineral base and a water based acrylic resin. You can create many different finishes in jesmonite however our most common is our stone mouldings of which the face is created from real stone backed with a resin body which makes it much more light weight, durable and can mould into finer details compared to real stone.

Can you colour Jesmonite?
Yes! Jesmonite typically comes in stock range colours. The stones for example are white marble, bath stone, yellow sandstone, natural stone, Portland stone, silver grey granite, old terracotta, charcoal black, Cotswold honey stone, brick red and marigold. However, you can also colour match Jesmonite to a RAL colour.

Is Jesmonite fireproof?
Jesmonite is fire resistant, having achieved a class ‘0’ fire rating under building regulations.

Can I paint Jesmonite?
Yes you can paint Jesmonite. It has an acrylic base so therefore is best painted with acrylic paints. Please contact us directly for the names of paints that we work with and can confidently recommend.

Is Jesmonite bad for the environment?
Jesmonite is considered one of the more environmentally friendly options within the building community. A main factor of this is that the product is water based and makes up the majority of the product.

Does Jesmonite break easily?
No, Jesmonite is a very strong and durable material and we rarely find chips on them after being fitted. If there are small chips, each colour comes with it’s own repair kit colour matched to make good any imperfections so they will be invisible to the naked eye.

Yes, it is. The base compromises of a selection of natural raw materials meaning it can replicate effects of many materials such as stone and metal.

Is Jesmonite eco-friendly?
Jesmonite is considered to be an eco-friendly safe alternative to resin, plaster and concrete. It is based from Gypsum and modified with acrylic creating an eco friendly composite material which is durable, sustainable, lightweight and versatile. Gypsum being the most abundant sulfate mineral found on the planet adds to it sustainability.
Jesmonite is made in accordance with BS EN 9001:2015. This standard is recognised internationally as a symbol of quality.
