The five-star deluxe Berkeley Hotel is the sister hotel to Claridge’s and The Connaught in Mayfair, and boasts the Michelin-starred flagship restaurant of celebrity chef Marcus Wareing and London’s only rooftop swimming pool.
The ballroom set out to capture the glamour and occasion of a classic ballroom but using an innovative design language, with eucalyptus-wood panelling, inventive lighting and a striking, bespoke 3D ceiling.
Our in-house CAD team and traditional master craftsmen worked with architects’ and designers’ drawings, crafting their plaster design ideas into samples of ‘razor cast’ plaster mouldings. Once approved, we created a plain face modern geometric plaster ceiling design which incorporated these razor casts within it. Unique air vent slots were also created in our modern ceiling mouldings to create a seamless finish almost invisible to the eye. It pointed to how flexible fibrous plasterwork really is, whether for traditional or more contemporary designs.
